Fun Outing @ HOG's Breath CAfe

Rode on an emotional roller coaster yesterday.

I was also pretty moody.

HIAZ...

When things seem bleak... I can only wait.

BUT

Haha... The next time you all call my office, you will hear this operator voice.. and guess who's voice that is? MINE!!! haha... Was recording and recording yesterday. And can you imagine you all were calling for me, then the moment you hear my voice im sure you are going to say
" HEy Shi..."
Only to realise that it is a recording. Cool right? Now everyone must hear my voice. HAha

And I manage to do up my french mani. Like DIY. This is my first attempt. Not very successful as in like not that professional but I know practise will definitely make perfect when it comes to painting nails.

Im waiting to travel. REally.

GOt a lot of things that i wanna do, sign up, etc. Lots of planning to do also. Like my financials.. life, activities, blah blah. Like real serious ones. I already did up an excel sheet to do my daily accounts from feb onwards to monitor my spending and I must resist the temptation to practise Enron accounting. haha

Lots of plays coming up and the one that I am REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO is the Phantom of the OPERA. It all started back in those days in SEc school, and this very special friend who is in munich now.. Jia Xixi. She introduced me to the world of opera and her fav at that time, im not sure if it has changed, is "Pavaroti".. Still remember.. the 3 tenors. AHAH.. I guess her primary education in Germany made her see and do things very differently. If I ever set foot in Germany, certainly im going to Munich to say HI to her! Anyway, back to the phantom, so yeah, I listen to the songs, learn to sing them, read the book, watch the movie... and now how can i ever not catch the OPERA?? And besides.. I love the Esplanade. Im really looking forward to that show.

" Night time sharpens.. Heightens each sensation..." - Music of the night...

I want to make sure that I live my life to the fullest. Im striving for a balanced life. I want a good physique and a healthy emotional well-being. And I have plans to make sure both aspects are fulfilled. On top of that, I have to make sure that I constantly upgrade myself cos there are a million and one things to learn. And never am i going to lose touch with finance, not just for career sake, but for interest sake.

Now that im 23.. hmm.. soon im going to be 32... and then the number will just get bigger and bigger... but no matter what.. I must make sure that I look pretty and nice everyday, not to have that tyre around.... Even after im married and have kids.. even when im like 45... I must also strive to be "lao Chio" . AHAHAHAH YEs.. that is the way!! And I will keep it that way.

Enough talk for the day.

Time to ACT.

Patience is bliss + WAKE UP CALL

WISE Man Says.. ( I ALSO SAY)
ONly Fools RUsh In

Everything in life seems to be already pre-determined or decided. I mean I know the FUTure is in our hands kind of theory but... When there is only so much that you can do do make one thing happen, I guess you would too, resign to the so called fate and just wait.

And seriously when you only have limited knowledge of certain things, rushing in is plain stupidity. The first time I rushed in I would call it ignorance. To repeat the same mistake, it is nothing but plain stupidity.

*****************************************
Some people are constantly aware of their own behaviour. They constantly reflect to check that they are able to account for their actions and thoughts for the day.

Some people dun think much. They just live each day as it is. Only start to think when they are being put in the situation or when the issue is so great that it is already a problem starring at them.

Some people welcome criticism and opinions of those who sincerely wish them well though it is natural to build up a wall of defence to all these words that are too hard for one's ego at the beginning.

AND

The real problem sets in when... You dun think much, dun reflect and simply do not accept any form of criticism from anyone. You only hear the good things and only want to hear the good things. How good a person are you? You think you are good. And you shut off each time someone tells you that you should change a certain way of doing things. You should change certain attitude.

What is the worst case?

Is when people all around gave up. They do not say anymore because it will only bring themselves disfavour and you are never willing to change. They just smile it off and lead a supercificial life and attitude with you. You think everyone is ok. You think you are ok.

BUT im very sure. Deep inside, late at night, when you are lying on ya bed, that loneliness must be too much to bear. Dun you have lots of friends to hang out with? But do you really have someone that cares for you inside? Why is it that you still feel so alone?

When you meet people and do things only because you have an agenda, or you put ya self above them ALL the time, Dun expect that you get sincerity from anyone because you didnt give and no one would do that in return.

When you are always painting a nice and loud picture about who you are, when deep down inside you know you are not, how do you expect people to ever accept you for who you are when you yourself never give them a chance and most important of all, you never accepted yourself for who you are.

The only way to receive love is to give love.

The only way to receive sincerity is to be sincere.

One life. Live IT.

Open up.

Be responsible.

Be sincere.

At the very least, start reflecting on ya own thoughts and actions. People these days dun share criticisim anymore. They dun need you to progress, they see that you are bad in a certain way, they simply drop you out of their lives. They have nothing to lose.

Good friends share with you on what they think you should change.
People who love and care about you want you to improve and grow. Listen to them at least.

When no one cares, at least, make sure you care about yourself.

On a Great Saturday morning

Yesterday's meet up was really fun. So much better than I thought. Cos none of the GIRLS came... they all had something on.

So, It was Adrian Quek, Jazreel, Jane, Clarinda, and later on Alex and me.

The steak was pretty good. Extremely tender but really quite ex. Anyway it was a hearty meal and we had lots of laughter.

And later on it was an impromptu decision to chill out. And we made our way to Dimsey road. Somewhere along Bt timah. That was a really ulu place. Haha.. if not for the fact that we are driven, I dun think we will ever make our way there. But its a really nice place. Just that the old buildings look a bit haunted but the bars, pubs and wine place is really nice. I felt like I was out of Singapore.

We shared a bottle of red wine. And hahh.. Alex had a pack of cards with him and he taught us how to play poker. I watched CasinoRoyale in Kathmandu. But I didnt really catch the whole theory of the game and yesterday we had loads of fun learning and eventually... Betting with sips of wine. Meaning at the end of the day, if you lose, you could be drinking like 20 sips...

Its a different dynamics.. But still very fun!

Girls... you missed out on quite a bit of the fun!!!
But of course, nothing beats the fun that we have when we get together. haha... And I miss you all!!

Was so cute to bump into tracy when I was killing time at Raffles city while waiting for my dinner appointment. AHHA.. we both gave out a loud scream cos we didnt realise we walked so close to each other already and then to suddenly realise each other's presence was quite a surprise. AHah... And she said I scared her.

Time to shop for CNY le...
Im excited!!
OF course... Happy.

Oh, I forgot to blog about the meet ups with Yao, HS and LZ. That was pretty fun too. The boys are still the boys. And we are intending to make it a weekly affair. Of course, I can see LZ as a

My other 2 meet ups - The SBM group and the OBS group, we are looking at a monthly one.

GIRLS!!!! WE should have a weekly one too. Like a quick meal or tea or coffee.. over a slice of my FAVOURITE APHRODISIAC FROM BIG O.. That would suffice too. haah

Life is BEAUTIFUL isnt it?

Arrgghhhh

Peeps out there.. You had better make sure that you really do either of the following:
  1. Find a job that is also ya passion.
  2. Find a job that pays damn well.

Yup. That would suffice. Oh Man... Catching up with like a few of the other classmates from School. They are earning like so much!!! MAS with like starting of about $4k. And Morgan stanley with starting of $7k.

Woah... This is crazy.

It did make me think twice about whether I am in the right industry. Shipping.. or money. AHAH... Money is SO DAMN GOOD. That is Starting salary leh!!!!! like that how? I guess they can never settle for less. I think they will not have to settle for less.

I used to tell myself that its not about the money.. but when it is that kind of money... WOah.. it did make me think twice about whether i should try the finance industry. BUT THEN AGAIN, its not easy to get the jobs that they have. They will definitely move on very well because they have damn solid jobscope too. Surely moving up.

I guess its ok. I shall go settle on my corporate side and wait for the bankers to come and suck up to me. AHAHAh.. when we all know that their sucking up is definitely worth it in terms of renumeration. ARRGGHHH....

Ok, I shall not look at money... Yah but when i look at my tuition fee loan.. It is pretty disturbing.

Its ok. My path is not fixed yet. I can always get back to finance again. Maybe as a ship broker with my 1.25% commission.

Should I start to apply to these big banks too? Should I start to enter the finance industry too? My god. I never tried leh. So Im not sure. But surely i would be in a big ass dilemma if I am offered a good finance position now, regardless of the pay. Im scared you see... of the shipping industry cos its cyclical. I know the finance industry is also very pretty much at the whims of the economy and its just that the ecnomy is doing well now and that kind of money is also not to stay forever.

I realise at the end of the day I maybe still dun really know what I want.

I am perhaps a bit ambitious but I think I really would like to progress at a faster speed than I am now. It is a bit too slow. Hopefully I get to follow my boss the next time he go on biz trip. I wanna learn from the frontline of the biz too. I need more things to keep me motivated. I NEED!!!

Should I still apply for other jobs just to try? Or what? Do I have the need to? I dunno. I guess maybe if I still feel this way, I would have to sit down with W to talk things out a bit and eventually my mentor. Im sure we can work something out. BUT ARRGGGHHH

The Bridge that is filled with memories - Armala

This is the bridge that leads to the school in the village. I have to cross this bridge each time I go to the market. The very first time I crossed this bridge... I almost died. I stopped halfway and I couldnt go on. The 2nd time I had to carry my 20kg backpack... And once again.. I almost died..
On the last day when I bidded farewell to the village, I walked across, still a little scared, but way better than the first time with my 20kg once again. I did it. Eventually.... HAHA... But its a beautiful bridge.. and pretty stable too. Just that my height phobia got the better of me. BUt I do miss this bridge. Cos It reminds me of how I manage to conquer my fear.

I have a lot to say....

I was suppose to just meet wongso for dinner but he signed up for Kim eng talk already and so I decided to sit in rather than roaming around the streets.

Got some motivation from the talk. Though it has nothing to do with whatever I am doing now or what I intend to do. Still.. It reminds me of my days in School, and once again, like the constant nagging from all the finance profs... I am again reminded of the importance of keeping updated with the news, of which I have been rather guilty of not doing conscientiously.

Will DO so...

Had a free dinner, not planned after the talk. Was supposed to be some refreshments ( i didnt attend for this!) and it turned out that they had real food. Got to know wilson and David better. HAha.. didnt realise that David actually knows my company well. And Wilson is the guy who did the school proud during his internship with the trader.

Anyway....

I will have to switch my mugger mode on soon. Like really soon. I never understood what Ashley said the last time I saw her in school and she had graduated then when she replied that she came back to school to do some revision. I have like a TON of revision to do.

I miss the library. REally. And the road has changed beside the biz block and the bus stop is like within the campus. So cool and convenient.

Back to me.

Im not joking when I say I need to go back to school to mug.
And I know how far behind I had dropped and how long I havent been getting in touch with my finance and how much I am losing them. The feeling of losing my finance knowledge is scary... And the fact that Im collecting and digging and trying to learn as much about Shipping as I can in the midst of all these is tiring me out.

And above all these, im suppose to keep abreast of the current affairs.

I definitely wanna keep reading my books too. The Kim eng guy mentioned the 20/80 rule. And I remembered that this theory was put across very well in the book Tipping Point. I need to continue and finish up reading these books. Peeps if you are looking of some real good non fiction books... Try Malcolm Gladwell. BLINK and TIPPING POINT. Books about thinking. Excellent illustration. And I believe BLINK is especially useful if you all are like going to graduate and will be going through the job search that also includes many tests... And the book is really good in explaining and reasoning how the brain works. Definitely worth reading.

I need to keep in touch with my Chinese too. In terms of reading and writing. I have to be able to read and write like I used to in those days... ARRGHH...

There is so much to learn. So much to absorb and SO MUCH to keep myself busy and feel motivated everyday.

Time is precious. I need to achieve more. I think I havent been productive these days. It is like 3 weeks since I started work. I should try and learn more and produce more. Its important that I get into the right momentum to keep myself going. I think I should go A bit faster....

I said I might not be able to post but I realised that it is very important that I post my thoughts here. I need to think about all these things and also rationalise some things. Its difficult to just think about them. When I actually pen them down, I think im also structuring my thoughts and my sentences, which is also important i feel.

Time to do some hardcore shopping. New year is around the corner. I missed the CNY last year as I was in BKK. I will treasure my CNY this year. The family, the food, the ang bao. Miss the new year food also. No worries... I will get to enjoy it this year. And i defnitely will treasure it a lot more than i did previously.

Im again, very sleepy. I gtg. Preserve the energy for the right things. And I WILL.

On SATURDAYS...

A Quick one. Think i wont have the energy to do a nice lengthy post anytime soon, perhaps only on weekends cos I try not to touch my acer when i reach home every night.

Im glad that I have already kicked the MSN habit. I am still on it when im working but at least i dun anymore outside office hours and that is good. I like the way my life is organised these days. When there is time for everything and im not constantly bound by anything.

I would like to officially make every SAT my Coffee day. I enjoy chilling out at coffee places, just chatting and catching up with peeps. I work hard on Mon to fri, sat to chill out coffee. Feel free to arrange with me peeps!!! My ideal saturday is to wake up slightly later than usual, cos i guess no matter how much sleep debt i incur, I still cant sleep until the cows come home because my body clock is already set. Hanging out at coffee joints, walking around borders or kino.... That is LIFE!!! ahha.. though im already at orchard mon-fri, but being in orchard on sat is different. For me at least.

And I try not to chill out and drink so much these days. Now that entertainment at work means lots of drinking.. I guess its time I protect my liver for those days. Some advice that I sort of practise my drinking so that I wont get drunk during those informal-formal drinking sessions. BUt hiaz... I guess i shall spare my liver. TO practise or not?

BELLE!!! You go sign up ya alumni card please so that we can both go for alumni sessions as well as gym!!! Will do that once my cough settles. HAha...

Life is actually more relax and enjoyable now for me. The pace is much slower than in school and I get to take things one at a time.

The learning curve is steep at work but I guess that is what is keeping me going too.

I CERTAINLY MISS THE MOUNTAIN RANGES!!!
NAMASTE!!! Keep bumping into the nepalee trip peeps in school... MISS ALL OF YOU!!! MISS NEPAL!!! MISS BANGKOK!!! MISS JY!!!

TRAVEL ADDICT IS FACING WITHDRAWAL SYNDROMEs!!!

Birthday Eve

I am so Tired. And I mean REALLY freaking tired.

I had insomnia last night cos my nose was blocked and I was coughing badly and my throat was darn dry. I just couldnt sleep. No matter how i toss and turn, I couldnt rest my mind. And I think i had at the most, 3 hours of quality sleep.

And today, I went to work. Though I have half the mind to take MC cos i am really coughing my lungs out already. BUt I went anyway, and my day did not end till like 15 min ago. And the time now is 1136pm. Which means that I finally only got home at around 11pm. I worked till 6pm, went back to SMU to and met up with Kev and Andy for dinner. Met some Nameste peeps, and went for class which began at 7pm. Its just seemed so nicely arranged. I mean like If I hadnt met up with Andy for movie on sun, we wouldnt have talked about the courses. He wouldnt have mentioned the course, "Shipping business" to me, and I wouldnt have mailed the associate dean for permission to sit in. BUT all happened. And I was simply THRILLED when I realised that this course is about "Ship broking" and my instructor, needless to say, Is a shopbroker.

WOah and I swear, other than the fact that I am physically worn out, sick and having a serious lack of sleep, I enjoyed the course thoroughly. I see the world of shipping after a ship is built. And that is the world I guess I couldnt see from my company side cos that is not what my company deals with. Nonetheless, the knowledge there is extremely important. To build ships and really be in the shipping business, I believe you must understand the whole line. Right from building the ship, to chartering, to trading, to the derivatives. I mean I used to think shipping is just shipping, but I am totally addicted now to the world of ships.

I see how I can also branch into ship broking now should my stay in the current place expire. And the most interesting part is that I am going to have 3 instructors to teach different parts of the course. Meaning, I will get to know more industry people. And Its simply amazing to be able to learn, study and immediately see the real world application. There are so many technical terms etc in this line. But im sure whoever stays here for a while, and managesto grasp the knowledge, both the technical and the business aspect , finding a job wouldnt be a problem in the industry.

I really feel like im having a whole new life at this point in time.

BUT Im reallly tired now.. 15 hours non stop, plus the flu which has officially worsened, and the ultra lack of sleep. I REALLY AM GOING TO DROP DEAD ANYTIME SOON!

Glad to have found the 3 Yishun guys - Marcus, Andy, Kevin to share cab with me home. That was the highlight of the day. HAHA.. With a wierd Taxi driver who insists that it is like damn easy to study in smu as in like life is damn easy since we only take 4-5 courses each sem. SIGH. Why like that?

Anyway, Im here right now typing furiously away cos I think my brian will shut down anytime and I dun wanna end halfway here. And the real reason as to why I am here still typing is cos my hair is still wet!

Well... I already had like 2 rounds of birthday celebration although my birthday is like in 13 min time from now. But I already received pressies from my babes... and my godma.

And althought I was darn sick this morning plus the monday blues.. I was pleasantly surprised to see a pressie on my table!!! Thanks to XZ... whom I pestered and bothered a lot when I had problems with my lappie. Woah.. and he got me a bachalor mug so that my water can be kept warm, it works like a thermal flask as i have been coughing like nobody's business. SO Touched!!

Anyway... Thanks for the SMSes... and the call from ireland which i missed cos I was in class.

I think i cannot take it anymore. I need to sleep.

COS TOM IS MY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Darn EXCITED!!!!!!!

ITs gonna be a WEEK OF CELEBRATION!!!!

Pre Xmas party 2006

Blessed to see the light again

I have been coughing non stop the whole night. I am totally drained. Perhaps my abs are coming out from all the intense coughing. ARgghh

I watched Deathnote 2 yesterday. Haha.. I think L looks really really cute!!! Minus the slouching, his features are nice! He has a pretty face. And I love his hair. HAha... I didnt even watch deathnote 1 and there I was in the cinema, constantly asking HS questions at the beginning of the show and he kindly explained to me who and what and whatever is going on. I quite like it. Think i will go watch Deathnote 1.

Haha.. somehow I was back at St james again yesterday night. I would hang out with HS and friends again surely some other time. I wasnt feeling exactly well to be clubbing yesterday. And coincidentally, Cy was there. I saw the guy who said my name was the problem sum name. He is the lead guitarist of the band i think. Yesterday when i saw him he had this new hair colour, a bit like ash-purple, Hahaha... if there is such a colour.

Anyway, after talking to Cy and company, I sort of began to understand where I am at this point of time. They all tell me its very important to build up the foundation. Initially, I was pretty jaded with the studying that I have to do, the amount that I had to read and digest in the office. But after hearing a bit about the importance of it all... after I sort of see a bit of the application, I think I better buck up and learn all these well.

"Do the costing, know the costing, nobody can fool you of the business".
- From her, the new-age woman whom I respect a lot and have a lot to learn from. She is very successful in her career with whatever she is doing now. Im not sure if she is happy. But certainly, she doesnt have much to be unhappy about. She is a very attractive and smart woman. She is undoubtedly, a strong and influencial woman. She used to tell me the first time I met her, that I must beware of being cheated by man. And she addresses me "girl". I enjoy all the small woman talk with her. It wasnt much cos we hardly really know each other but I do listen and look up to her.

Its not common to have a successful female trader but she did it. From there, I am determined to carve out something for myself in this male-dominated industry that I am in now too. And I will.

I was a little lost after 8 days at work. Right now, I guess I have sort of settled down. Not so much of settling down physically that I am talking about here. I am beginning to see things that get me excited. I am beginning to see meaning in the things that I wanna do and am doing now. And as I look back, I am touched and blessed to have been given the opportunity and the guidance. I shall not let him down. The drive is back. It is getting stronger.

I have to first of all get all the trade terms and all the rules and regulations of import and export to china clear in my head. The basic, dry BUT very important stuff. I will work hard. Certainly.

Im losing my voice

ARrgghh.. Think im falling sick. feeling a bit feverish now.

SO much so for having 3 consective meals that were so spicy.
Round one of sambal sotong, chillie kang kong and chillie dua tao.
Today's lunch, Nasi padang.
Today's dinner, Ayam Penyet.

Gone le my throat. tHe last draw came when I was telling my nepal stories to Darryl, Andy and Tetsuya. And I guess all the laughing didnt help. Tetsuya was so funny. Today is Adult day in Japan. I so wanna go Japan !!! Since he will be in Tokyo, I will definitely go visit him when Im finally there. Maybe next year. This year is not very possible. He has so much funny stories to tell. It was pretty fun hanging out with them. Just that I really have no more voice now. ARRGGH... We went to Acid bar after a hearty dinner... ARrrgghhh... My voice... And it was so embarrassing when halfway through the dinner I simply cannot recall Andy's name. AHAHH... So sorry!

Im trying to build up my technical knowledge now at work. Gotta work hard... Mugg!!!

See.. I spent almost all my life studying triple science only to land in SMU to do business courses. And finally after spending 3.5 years in uni, Im into the marine offshore industry which I once again, know nothing about. Its how funny how things turn out in life. But At least, at every stage, I enjoyed what I did and I was motivated by something. Its just that sometimes, after a while, I would realise that what I wanted to do was no longer the same. And when the opportunity comes.. I go.

Happie Piggie

At the moment, that is how I would describe my life. HAppy, Simple, Carefree, positive, full of energy, and once again, Happie.

Oh I miss the shi with this kind of motivation. I miss the shi with this kind of spirit. Renewed. Inspired. Im just Happie.

Nelle was so cute just now, at 11pm, she called.

" Yee Yee, Can I ask you a question?"

"When I go to school, is it that my buddie will go home after 3 days? cos my buddie went home after 3 days."

And so by the way, nelle just got into her primary one class and so she was assigned this buddy who was primary five. HAHA.. I couldnt stop laughing. I had to explain to her that her primary 5 buddy is still in school but its just that the buddy system is only for a week. And I bet the upper primary and lower primary has different recess time, so when she didnt see her skinny buddy, she thought that the buddy went home. AHAH. May she enjoy her life with her new found best friend- Amanda.

Anyway, time i get down to serious work in office... Last week I dun think i was that serious. This week Im gonna get real work done. Im sleepy. Think I should sleep early. Tonnes of celebration coming up. Very excited and very happy. AHAH

I miss SMU. I really do. I miss the BABES.. and HUNKS( not many though)... I miss pick and bite, kopitiam, GSR, subway, MR BEAN, NASI LEMAK in Kopitiam, the escalators, the gym, the SRs... ARRGGHHHH

I MISS SMU. REALLY DO.

Happie Pie

Me. YEs. Me.

HAha.. Nothing makes me feel more new and more motivated to start 2007 than this NEW life, NEW job, New Lappie, New colleagues and NEW PEEPs in my life!!

I have another Acer. Thanks to XZ who decided that I should get a 15" one. Haha.. It is really heavy compared to my current one. BUT!! I kind of like the big screen. Besides, I dun have a say to what I can have. Anyway, I will be happy to bring it home to watch DVD during weekends. HAha... And the thing with the lappie is.... It is an unspoken decision that I will soon belong to the category of people in the office who gets to travel!!! I am damn excited about this. Though I know like perhaps in the coming months, i will at the most, get to go to China with W, but even that, i think it depends on how fast I get my current project done. The best thing is, I have full autonomy, and unlimited opportunities ahead of me. So, in other words, how far and how much i achieve at this point in time really depends on ME. And talking about travelling and after talking to J plus the fact that I am now sitting near to the admin girl who helps to liase with the travel agent... I AM DAMN MOTIVATED TO WORK HARD!!! I wanna go to the places they are going too!!! And if there is one marketing position that I will join, it has to be the marketing position in my company. That is where the real deals go plus, you get to travel a lot too... BUT... I see some gender discrimination here. I am determine to challenge that. Wait till I am rotated to that department. HAHA.. I AM WAITING!!

I need to travel soon again. That is personal trip. I have to. AHAH.. Im a serious addict. I cant take leave at this point of time, even if they say that I can take advance leave, I should think that I had better just stick to the present till after probation. The last thing I wanna have happen to me is to make MC doubt his decision to employ me.
ANYWAY, i will have a celebration after my probation period by planning a trip to Hong kong!! And guess who is going to wait for me there? SY!!! And I will then see who is available to be my travel buddie then. Aahah.. Anyway, that would be april/may, where many of my buddies will be planning some graduation trips and let's see if our schedule actually fit.

A shorter and more possible trip would be to bkk.. YEs... Ok.

Had a quick celebration for wongso in school on thurday. And so happened that darryl was around too... so I wastnt the only one singing song. AHHA.. that was a rather short and sweet one cos our dear dancer needs to go for practices. So, we have scheduled for a round 2 celebration. YAy!! AHAH.. I love janurary!!! Its a month of celebration!!

I will not let anyting disrupt my way of life at this point in time. I guess, for a very long time. HAHA... Its addictive. I am listening a lot to myself. I am listening a lot more to what others have to say. I enjoy every single minute of my life, taking things in stride. This is, I guess, the optimal point of living for me. I shant lose my momentum.

I just need to start exercising... NEED... I hear my tennis racquet beakoning at someone's house. Time to go and pay my racquet a visit... HAHA.. It's been lying there for TOO LONG!!! Im going to go for tennis lessons soon. Yesh... that is next up!

The Office speaks...

Yay yay, Im stranded in the office cos its raining... Cats and dogs I heard.

First things first, let me list down the backlogs of posts which I have yet to write or put pictures.

  1. In case you are wondering why is it that I seem to be having a great time staying in hotel and getting restaurant food when I said that I was in nepal to do community service, it is only because I have yet to post pictures of me in the village + my first REAL big group Xmas party in Pokhara city + my home stay.
  2. I have yet to post pictures of new year eve celebration but I see that Tracy has already done a good job and its the same so you guys might wanna look at her blog instead.

Office ROCKS BIG TIME...

Well, you think leh?

HAha.. anyway. I got a shock when i reached the office yesterday. The office looked so damn nice!!! I know that the upstream oil industry is booming, but i didnt know that the company was doing THIS WELL!!!... Basically, in a span of like just 4 months, the office space doubled. And my company employed about 10 more new people. I wasnt expecting the company to grow so fast!

Im now officially a nomad in the office. I have a table, but I will have to leave this table after 3 months and go take another table. So I dun think its practical to bring lots of barangs to decorate it. Anyway, I love my job. And Im really happy to be learning so much. I think I will stay in this industry. For at least the next 4-5 years. I wanna learn as much as I can of this business, both the business side and the technical side. My direct boss now is so nice!!! He is my idol!!! He is a chinese national, very billingual, strong techinical expertise and great personality!! And I really mean great. SO what if you are techinically sound, so what if you are experienced, but when you have all that and yet you have a great personality, that is what brings people to the highest level of success i think. Im so glad that Im starting off in his hands.

MC spoke to me yesterday. He is DA MAN in my life at this point of time. AHAH... I was so touched to know and see that he really put in thoughts and effort to plan out my career path for me for the next few years. He consults me with his decision, ask me what is it that I want. If not for him, I wouldnt be here. If not for him, I will never be able to enter this industry. I never really thought that I fitted well in banking and finance, I mean yes the money is good, but I just didnt like it. And right now, I see, even if I wanna do marketing, I would wanna be in the marketing team for the company. Now that I found out more about what they really do, I am motivated to be there. Though for the time being Im not very sure what I really want to do in this company, I would dare say the marketing job here is all about substance and not RARA. And with that, I now have a resolution for 2007. In order that I survive well and long in this industry, I would have to equip myself with the technical knowledge involved in ship and oil rig building. Me boss gave me a crash course yesterday. I plan to finish the project in one week. I think I can. I have to try real hard!

Thank you for showing me the rainbow that I was capable of painting!

I think im a serious addict to travelling. Now Im suffering from the withdrawal syndromes of the end of Namaste trip. I miss everyone to the core!!

Im both excited and sian about starting work tom. More excited though. My significant first! Im totally ok if Mal decides that I should spend half a year or so in Yantai. I will gladly go. I wanna go and visit Qingdao to taste the beer. AHha.. i can do mini trips here and there. And like tian tian, michelle and aiwei, I can also go visit mongolia.

Im going to start going back to my golf. Start my tennis lessons. Go pick up a spanish, so that I can let more hot latin american guys pick me up. Ahaha...

Well... The bkk trip is in sight. I havent really decide who which group of peeps I should go with. And I will wanna find sy in hong kong for sure. Anyway...

Bleah....
I spent like almost one hour in the shop trying to get wongso's birthday gift. I CANT DECIDE!!!! ARRGGHHH... Shant reveal where till the birthday is over in case im really buying from there. HAah.. Im actually excited about planning ya birthday. AHAHA... Its been a long long time. AHha... Lets hope everything will turn out well. I dun have much time le!! ARRGGHH and I still havent even gotten anything, much less plan anything. AHah..Im doing all these just so that on the 16th, I get a wacky one too. No lah.. KIDDING LA. You are worth every bit of it even if my birthday is not near. And since you are actually free on the day of ya birthday, which im not very sure if that is a piece of good news or not, I decided it is only polite that I take the slot so that you will not be available during that prime time. AHAH.... Must thank me k wongso!!!

Its really funny how I saw Papa Wongso today at suntec. HAAH... I meant wongso's papa. AHah... And how we both stare at each other for about 10 seconds as we walk pass each other. And then simultaneously we turn back to take a second look at each other. HAAHAH... What a coincidence!!! It was just funny how we both react in the same way. Its also quite amazing how he remembers how I look though I only met him once.

Good luck to me for my first day at work tom!!!

I thought it would be difficult. I thought I had to struggle through. But I was wrong. And I slept real well for once in a very long time. I got what I wanted. And I was just reminded once again of why i made the decision earlier. Im glad I took the initiative yesterday. Otherwise, I will not be me today. The process helped me, so did the outcome. I shall rule my life once again. Anyway, what goes around comes around. Its only a matter of time. A lesson learnt, and now, i know better what I want and what I do not want. And the best thing is, I have a choice. That is all that matters.

Thank you Tracy love!

An exerpt from THE ZAHIR

" Maria, let's suppose that two fireman go into a forest to put out a small fire. Afterwards, when they emerge and go over to a stream, the face of one is all smeared with black while the other man's face is completely clean. My question is, which of the two will wash his face?"

"That's a silly question. The one with the dirty face of course."

"No, the one with the dirty face will look at the other man and assume that he looks like him. And, vice, versa, the man with the clean face will see his colleague covered in grimme and say to himself: I must be dirty too. I'd better have a wash".

"what are you trying to say?"

" Im saying that, during the time I spent in hospital, I came to realise that I was always looking for myself in the woman i loved. I looked at their lovely, clean faces and saw myself reflected in them. They, on the other hand, looked at me and saw the dirst on my face and, however intelligent or self-confident they were, they ended up seeing themselves reflected in me, and thinking that they were worst than they were. Please, don't let that happen to you."

I would like to have added: That was what happened to Esther, and I've only just realised it, remembering now how the look in her eyes changed. I'd always absorbed her life and her energy, and hat made me feel happy and confident, able to go forward. She, on the other hand, had looked at me and felt ugly, diminished, because as the years passed, my career - the career that she had done so much to make a reality - had relegated our relationship to second place.

On Resolutions

I realised that on the card that we wrote down out resolutions for 2007, we wrote about things we didnt do well or we fail to achieve in 2006 and we hope to achieve them in 2007. And just before I slept yesterday, it suddenly occured to me that we should focus on our strengths, and attain greater achievements like what Prof Brown said. Why are we all focusing on our weaknesses which wouldnt really help us soar. Hmm...

I gave it some thoughts and I think perhaps, to become an achiever, we must focus on our strengths. But to become a better person, we must work on our weaknesses. If upon knowing ya weaknesses, or if someone is kind enough to tell you the area that you are not doing well or can be improved, you decided that you are you and you will never change, i guess you will be pretty stucked at the level of person you are. Honestly, it is more important to be a better person than a better achiever. And I guess that is why we are always focusing on our weaknesses.

I guess I should focus on one strength and many weaknesses.

Happy New Year my Sweetie Pie!!

Hello 2007!

As much as I should go and sleep now, I feel the urge to pen my thoughts cos I know that they will disappear and I wont be able to capture my exact thoughts this way if I were to wait till tom.

Today was well spent celebrating Xmas ( Im still receiving my Xmas pressie!! Happy and more are still coming in), celebrating the arrival of New year.

Always had heart-warming lunches at Auntie Lynn's place. That is also a good time for me to meet up and spend time with my family. Just that today my ah yan kor kor is away in Malaysia and so I havent met up with him. I realised that I have been spending lesser time with my family and ever since kor moved out, I hardly get to see him anymore. I havent even been to his house, met his dog nor seen Joyce since I came back from nepal and even Bangkok. That's not a good sign I guess. Suddenly today I missed him. Havent been seeing him around.

And Then I rushed down to east coast for second round of gathering. HAha.. I had fun. Both to receive the news and to meet all my NAMESTE mates!!! Jason did a great gift for Anil. The pictures he took was really pretty too!! And the I will always remember how he so patiently taught me how to use my Nikon, sitting beside me and explaining to me exactly how to use which function on what occasion for almost half an hour!! And he so gentlemanly will always take care of me when Im out with him, especially during the last few days in kathmandu. He will make sure that Im not alone right at the back, he will make sure that I walk around, at least in front of him. Think cos my carbon pills saved him on the first day of the trip, and my face cream helped him too. AHAH... And during the pre-Xmas party when we were all tipsy.. AHAH... He manage to lead me back to the hotel although he was the one who wasnt walking exactly straight and I had to make sure adrian was with us too. AHAH.. That was jason.

Let me talk about Adrian now. Adrian IS MY SAVIOUR 2007! He came to my rescue when I was stranded in school after watching the fireworks at esplanade. We couldnt hail a cab and even calling cab didnt help. I smsed a few people and HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO CALLED BACK IMMEDIATELY!! But to first of all, laugh at us for being in school and he wanted to find out why we were still in school. HAha... But he did come in a cab and Sy and I were really grateful for that. Thank you Adrian!!
I remembered how he updated me with all the places that I must see and visit in Kathmandu cos he stayed there for a month before. And he was my puking kaki too that night when we had food poisoning. And if not for his contacts, I wouldnt be able to see that spectacular sunset at nagarkot while enjoying my nepali food. He has been a great taxi kaki. And if the nepali friends were really nice!!

Next I wanna talk about Zhongyi. He was the first aid guy and he is someone who really turned out to be very different from the person I thought he would be when I first met him. He is ultra funny too. Haha... Very meticulous guy who always records a lot of his thoughts everywhere and anywhere he goes. He shops with the STYLE that he wants in mind and he pulled off really well with his selection of clothes. Very nice. And the funniest thing is when he always make announcements like, " People, the second dose of malarial pill was due two days ago." or "The first dose of malarial pills was due yesterday by the way". Always late!!!

And today Anil had a new way to say hi and bye. HAHA.. I will share with you all if I meet up with you. Its hard to describe here. But that was damn cute!! If only I were still in school, I would be able to do all these funny things with you guys!!! ARRGGHH!!!

Anyway, what I really wanted to blog about, was how I felt just now during the whole time I was celebrating and waiting for the countdown. Its nice to be home. Its nice to have such a nice and warm surrounding and festive mood here back home. I really missed major celebration events of 2006 cos I was overseas. I missed Chinese new year, and in bkk, there wasnt much CNY mood. I missed Xmas, In nepal, the only Xmas thing was the weather, it was nice to celebrate Xmas not in perspiration but in scarves and down jacket. But thank god we still had each other there to celebrate with. And so, this new year celebration is something I really looked forward to cos have been missing out on too much of these celebrations!! And it is during such moments, such festive seasons, that I really miss the ones I loved and put so close to heart. Though Im not really with them, its happy to know that at least im near them!! Although it was too crowded and all, I still must say that I enjoyed the celebration tonight. Tracy made us write our resolutons on that card and I had the honour of blowing them to come true!! Aahah.. she is so cute!

Anyway, Happy New year!! My travelling and being away made me treasure and look at festivals in singapore in a way, I dun think I would ever be able to understand if not for the fact that I experienced it myself. And it made me think of people that I love the way i never would have otherwise too.

Anyway, I shall keep my resolution in my head and take 2007 to greater heights!!

HUGGIES EVERYONE!!
