Surprised!

I was only trying my luck. Im happy to see my long outdated blog appear on my lappie.

Im pretty tired of my blogskin. But I certainly do not have the capacity to change the aesthetic aspect of it right now.

It is 822pm and I am still stuck in the yard. Thanks to uncle tin who is still arguing over the phone with the auditors.

Anyway, I have been wanting to pen my thoughts about my life here this trip.

I am no longer putting up at hotels. I am now staying in the company's guesthouse. Im beginning to love my room and other than the location, I would say that I have settled down perfectly. Haha.. Everything in the room is new & im blessed with a sea view. Not that I get to stand there to enjoy the scenary much cos i would usually drop dead on my bed after a day's work and ahem.. play.

It is still cold here. But i guess the fact that temperatures are now hardly below 0 degree means that the arrival of SPRING is going to come really soon! And I cant wait for that.

I am waiting for a better weather so that I can go and do more sightseeing and places of interest and not freeze to death.

Im planning a trip to bring mummy here. I am looking at April, good bdae pressie for her plus it is also a way for me to celebrate the completion of my project. I want to deliver my work. It has been long enough and with all the effort and time I spent here. I truly want a break and I cant wait for delivery. Real break that I am looking forward to --- US trip. Even if it means me going alone!!

Big delivery in April and June for me. These are the biggest KPI for the year for me. Not sure how things will turn out but anyway, Im glad to have the support of my bosses, the blessings from my team and my special mentors around me giving me advice, listen to me rant, complain and encouraging me and the special friends in SG always supporting me and being there for me especially when i need them the most. Thank you SY. Thank you Wongso.

Shopping for attractive bank rates

I woke up at 5am today for toilet break and i didnt go back to sleep simply because i had more than 12 hours of rest on friday.

I spent about 2 hours on the net, browsing through UOB, Citibank and DBS's webpages.

Citibank has this very interesting deal on "STEP UP interest" salary account. The interest rate starts from 0.68% P.A and it can go all the way up to 2% provided your available balance increases every month, otherwise, it will drop back to 0.68%.
- It seems that no matter what, I will be enjoying a higher interest rate than my current UOB CAMPUS account which only offers 0.35% P.A.

POSB has this very good forced savings scheme. All you need to do is to set the bank to auto credit a fixed amount to this savings accounts. Should you credit $300 - $790 a month, you get a very attractive interest rate of 1.0% P.A. I have a problem here though, that is, I have already closed my POSB account, so if i want to take this up, I have to open a DBS or POSB account. I am currently using my UOB campus and I do not want to switch back to POSB.
- This is good for students also, not just working adults.
- It allows seperation of savings from normal banking accounts. I like this because it is easier to track savings this way.

UOB has its own flexi deposit that works something like the POSB one, the thing is, their interest rate is not as attractive as the above 2 banks.

Conclusion:
I should open a step up interest salary account with citibank so that I enjoy a higher interest rate on my basic account because no matter what, i get an interest of 0.68% PA. I should perhaps credit $300 to mummy and have her open the forced savings account so that I get to enjoy 1% interest rate. However, If I need to withdraw this $$, I have to go through her. Hmm.... This will really make this scheme a "FORCED SAVINGS".

I wanna get out of debt in 3 years' time. Right now, I will not take on any debt, or any installment payments. I am going to focus on paying my uni tuition fee loan. On top of that, it is important that I have some savings, no matter how small the amount.

It's 7:15am now. I better get back to rest.

More CNY pics

Happy CNY 2008

My little baby dyason... well I really miss this little boy while im away in china.
This was taken on the first day of lunar new year at my aunt's place.
I didnt have much time to shop for CNY clothes and so half of what I put on was OLD. Nevertheless, im still very traditional about putting on at least a new top on the first day, and I did. I tried to shop in china but they have tons of winter clothes and almost zero summer clothes so my selection was really very limited.
Anyway, with this new year, comes new resolution.
Im going to invest in a pair of ASICS shoes for running. Gotta get myself exercising frequently whether im in china or sg.
I gotta do some hard core financial planning. I intend to clear my tuition fee loan debt in 3 years. After which, Im looking at maybe saving up for a house. As to what kind of "house" will very much depend on my financial ability 3 years later and the market price and also on whether Im going to get married soon. Cos otherwise, I would really wanna get a house independently. And that shall be my asset. Not a car first. A house first.
I wanna go to NEW YORK in August to visit my cousin qiu who is going to be on her work and travel USA trip. That is going to be part of my travel plan this year for sure. Im going to save up for that too!!
& I hope that I would stick by these resolutions, for I would like my 2008 to be as fruitful, if not better, than my 2007!

CNY eve

Happy CNY.

I know my last entry was about me being exhausted. I have to say again though, that I am very very tired now.

I barely had 5 hours of sleep last night after my plane touched down and I came home to unpack and at the same time pack stuff to be brought to the office. And I was up early in the morning for work. It's been a while since I last had a decent breakfast before starting work at 9am. And I had my fav mee pok. ~Grin~

This is one pretty special CNY eve because I never expected G and JS to be shopping groceries with me and they ended up carrying stuff for me, waited for me, and even as impatient as they are, they QUEUED for me. Im touched! We even went to pick my mum up and they gave us a lift home.

I guess all the ups and downs that we went through together while in china made the bond in us pretty strong. I also realised how after being away from home made us all appreciate what we have at home better, especially our parents.

I would usually be extremely stress this time of the year because I am expected to be home, helping out with this and that. This is the first year that I felt so lethargic and the fatigue really set in pretty quickly.

Kor met a little problem along the way before dinner but Im so glad the whole family came together to walk him through. Haha, It's been a while since we all came together this way. I appreciate that really.

I am no longer holding it tight. I feel peace and comfort in this tranquility. If it is meant to be, it will be. No more struggle, no more expectations, no more disappointment. I left it there and then. I have decided not to hold onto this, this way anymore. Im glad I left it there and then. Not going to think too much. Each time the heart dies, it relives again. Im glad I made it.
