Ghost Game
Posted by Picasa

9 days

My eyes are dry. So dry but i wanna finish an entry here b4 i actually go wash up. I just came back from a thai horror movie... "Ghost Game". The plot itself, though purely fictional, is based on this creepy place in Cambodia which was once used as an execution ground for tons of people and is now a museum. According to Meanie, this movie is banned in Cambodia.

Anyway, Lindsay is leaving in 7 hours time. She is the first exchange student to be going home. Its my turn soon. I dunno how i should actually feel now cos hmm... Im going to leave this place which i had so much fond memories of. The people, the things we did together, the food, the freedom, the late nights, the supper, the clubbing, the thai music, the prolonged happiness due to less responsibilities and stress, even the blogging... Hmm.. I can breathe better here cos of the carefree life that i have, at the same time, i cannot breathe well literally cos the Tuk tuk are emitting so much pollutants, my lungs are prolly grey now. And i swear i never ate so much salt at any one point of my life and from somebody who is always consious about the salt level that she takes each day, i have accostomed my tastebuds to eating real salty food now. I think when i get home, the singapore cuisines will no longer taste the same, at least for a while.

I hope i dun cry on the day of my departure. Im glad that Jy is going to be working and will not be able to send me off cos i prolly, really, will tear. I mean i spend every single day of my life and almost 24 / 7 with her for the past 4 months. I would definitely feel this sense of loss. Sigh..but no worries Jy, we will definitely meet again this year, at least once in singapore and whenever i have cheap tics available, we will go eat Phad Thai and Hoi tord... and of course, our kenom beuang and also pay a visit to our second home @ siam paragon!! I should save all these for my farewell entry.

Anyway, the mosquito bites i got from kanchanaburi have swelled up. They are now about 3 times the original size. They are really red and ITCHY!!!

I think my entries really suck now. I have nothing much to say and basically i am just feeling too much. I feel like i dun really know what im talking about too. I better get going...

HELP ME!!!

Im munching potato chips now. My last paper is over. I'm getting stressed up. Not with my exam but with my summer in singapore. I need an internship. Although im majoring in marketing and finance, i wanna only do a finance internship. Im in a dilemma now. Should I just settle for any company and just do whatever internship they offer just so that i can graduate this dec or should i really fight and wait for a good company that can let me have a feel of the financial industry. i wanna wait for a good company because the internship might lead to a job opportunity. And that is another issue i need to grapple with very soon. AGGHH!!!!

I just contacted cousin S for help. I know its kind of difficult for her too at this point of time and she said she will get the other sisters to help. Im really grateful for that. I went through a lot of emotional roller coaster cos im really not into asking for favours. However, i also begin to realise that in this world, especially the finance industry, unless you are a first class honours, contacts is all you have to get you there. I tried and hesistated for a long time cos i would really rather get it on my own. But yeah.. Im just going to get some divine help at this point of time and pray hard.

I need to work on 2 very important things right now. One.. my resume. I need to redo a resume cos the current one.. really cannot make it le. I realised that i have lost a lot of the tips that the instructor gave me on my resume one year ago. And yes, now that i begin to look at other people's resume, I really need to do something about mine. And its time i do a really good one cos i need to apply for jobs soon too. i will go to my career counsellor for resume critique when i get back home.

Two... my networking skills are still pretty bad. I realise that i need to really improve on this aspect. Sigh... To be fake and yet look real...I guess i need to fundamentally change my thinking here. I used to be much worst but now i feel that i have already become more outspoken to strangers or aquantainces. ANd why did i lost the name card of the thai investment banker who came to raoul to buy clothes a few months ago. He said i could just drop him an email for internship when im here.. and i really regretted losing that card. So much so for my networking...

OK... this is my ideal summer plan:

8th may: Home sweet home
9th may: start internship
24th July: Start my summer term
19th August: Start my Last sem
Dec: File for graduation
Jan 07: New job
July 07: Commencement.. To be in my graduation robe...

IS THAT A LOT TO ASK FOR?

...14 days...

I have mixed feelings about leaving bangkok. So in 15 days' time, i will be chewing my mee pok with extra vinegar from the coffeeshop opp my house. However, my greatest wish is to be having lunch @ Raffles place or whichever place the company which i will be doing an internship for will be. That is if i get one. Im still applying. Im still trying. Not being physically in Singapore does make things a lot more challenging than it already is.

Anyway, its 2 days of intense mugging for me and then i can kiss goodbye to my chula uniform. Im still thinking about whether i should go visit my other host family in lopburi after this paper and I will be probably going to Koh samet with asma this weekend. Jy needs to look for accomodation to shelter her for the next 2 months.

In the mean time, im enjoying the thai food, my fav at the moment is "Gai Tord Khao Niao", Fried chicken with sticky rice. And I was talking to KM that day on msn, then he commented about how he always wanted to try the thai Chai fan here but there is always this strong smell that put him off. I realised that I had overcome that unknowningly. I remembered my first month here, i really stayed away from the thai "chai fan" cos the smell of the fish sauce and also this dish with bamboo shoot is seriously very strong. I always feel sick and felt like puking when i hang around the food area for too long. LOOK AT ME NOW!!! Cannot stop eating. AHha... Im listening too to lots of Thai hip hop like Thaitanium, the potato, and lots of others... They are really good. I realised that after all these while, i havent caught any Thai movies yet. AHaha... And yes, that is the next on my list of movies to catch. And i really will miss the song for the king b4 each movie... That is something really exclusive to thailand.

To be continued...

Friday Night out @ A Thai Club

It was a lot of fun talking to Meanie's friends... Especially his friend, Beer, the guy in blue.. They are so funni. And when communication breaks down, like English and Thai cannot be used, Actions start popping up. I really had a lot of fun. AHha

"Chan Mai Chai Khon Thai", will believe me?

These are all the ingredients you need.. See, even the bowl of "See Harm"... They were pretty cheap in the supermarket. However, Meanie had to call his auntie at Kanchanaburi about how to open these cockles.. AHah... So we learnt that you need to pour boiling water over the shells and then it is easy to open them. And I got to talk to Fram!! His voice is so cute

Lunch with 2 Buddies and 1 Roomie

June PAssed her Driving and now she can start bringing us around!!! So happy for HER!!! and US too!!! HAha...

Decided to have lunch @ NOODIEE.. this noodle place. I have grown so tann after the Kanchanaburi trip... CAn you tell the difference. I actually went for a hair cut yesterday so that my hair doesnt look like a Lions' Mane.. But the hairdresser cut a little too much of my fringe and also, she cut the overall length of my hair.. So sad... I know i sound very contradictory here.. I mean i wanna trim the thickness of my hair like so she just needs to layer it but she cut my hair so now my hair is shorter le... like 2 months backs' length.. Need to grow again!! Thank god im going back soon.. then i can communicate well with the hairdresser then.. Im still trying to figure out how to style my hair for now.

Our Orders from NOODIEE... Top left: Jy's Mushroom chicken soup noodles, the mushroom has been soaked in fresh coconut juice. She has caught a flu from songkran and that explains her reason for choosing this. But this clear soup is really nice. Top right: MINE. This is Japanese Ramen with Omelette and shredded crab stick in thick gravy sauce. The sauce is sweet and the Ramen is soft. The omelette goes really well with ramen and its like a fusion dish. Excellent. Bottom left: Pum's Singapore fried noodles. I later confirmed it to be Fried Mee siam. Bottom right: June's Vietnamese Beef noodles soup. The broth isnt as thick as the ones that Taka food court sells but still is rather good. The noodles costs around 69bt per bowl.. Around there and they were served pretty efficiently and the taste was above average. I will definitely come back here again!!

Pum Enjoying Rotiboy.. The queue for Rotiboy here is on average 20min.. and there are usually at least 15 people ahead in the queue.. and each person on average buys 4 Rotiboy.. Haha... Papa Roti is on its way here.. and many other competitors are on their way too...

Sharing the Fats.. I can never finish one Roti boy on my own cos I cannot get by 1/2 the bread.. And i personally feel that the amount of Butter they put in the Roti boy here is about 2 times that in Singapore. (Me and June)

June and Pum got us one chinese pouch each from their Shanghai Study trip. Pum told me she only learnt one phrase in Shanghai.. "TING BU DONG"...

12 April Wednesday... Leaving Bangkok for Kanchanaburi

We are all so happy to be able to catch one of the last buses that leaves for kanchanaburi. The bus terminal was so full of people leaving bkk. And we had a hard time hailing a cab which is willing to drive us to the bus station. And even after we got on the cab, the traffic jam was so bad it took about 45 min to finally reach the station!! PHEW!!! But we are all happy and READY!!

People dun come to just SEE waterfalls and rapids... they jump into the water to play and enjoy. So fun!

Its truly a great experience... I have never been this close to nature this way... It took us almost 45 min of trekking in flip flops, over steep slopes, both up and down and lots of obstacles to finally reach this waterfall
