Its April 12th. 26 days to my departure.
HAha... So there goes one term of exchange. Tom marks the beginning of Song Kran festival. I will be away till Sunday, at least that is the plan now. I dunno what to expect of this trip at Kanchanaburi. That is also the best part of travelling here. Something which i have never done before in the past is to just go to a place and then start looking for accomodation etc. A place without map. A place which we have only read from a few websites. The price to pay? Haha.. in my last trip, it was the sacrifice of my blood for the clan of mosquitoes on that island and also some adrenalin surge which led to a a mini panic when things didnt turn out well for a while. The experience? Immensely valuable. NO one.. Im saying no one in this world can make you feel that unless you experience this kind of travelling yourself. Even if I have this terrific skill of being able to put my thoughts into words here(Which i dun), you will still not be able to understand what i mean and truly am talking about unless you try it. What I am trying to say here is... GO and try it. The more you plan, the more you expect, the more difficult it is for you to be really open up and without that kind of openness in ya heart, ya mind and ya soul, you will not be able to truly enjoy ya travel experience. Im not saying that if you plan for a trip well, you cannot enjoy, but im saying that if you overplan for a trip, chances are things dun really turn out the way you think they are going to be and besides, if you already can anticipate the feelings or experience ahead, the level of euphoria you can get from travelling is limited. Try planning simple, minimal, cos when you do only the minimal here, plus you would need some luck... haah.... you will be able to get the maximum. And you can only get by with positive thoughts and a strong will in those panicky situations, giving up or quitting there and then will not help anything. For me, it was challenging back then cos i was only with another gal, i mean things are different if i have another guy around or when the group is bigger. It is usually when you are out ofthe comfort zone do you learn and know more about yourself. And i truly enjoyed every single moment of that kind of travelling. These was all possible prolly cos i am on exchange to begin with. If i were to be at home, if my mum is actually here in bkk... AHHA... I wouldnt be able to travel like that cos there are just too many emotional baggages, problems and even responsibilities to let me really be "OPEN".
To all those people out there... dun JUST travel with accomodations in Big hotels which serve you excellent international breakfast everyday of ya trip. Try something diffferent for once. Stay in a guesthouse. I used to think that guesthouse is just a run down hotel until i was here... guesthouse is just a place with many rooms or simply, "spaces" with the bare minimum. You share a common bathroom which often are guarded by like on average 5 mosquitoes. HAha... try every kind of travelling. I was always on a well plan and safe trip all these time when i travel with my mum. But if you guys have chance to travel with friends... Go stay simple, get dirty and haha.. Enjoy it. Its a different experience totally. And you wouldnt be able to appreciate what you have at the present moment more until you actually try that. REMEMBER to leave ya baggages, the emotional ones basically behind and ENJOY!!
Anyway... I will be staying with Mean so i have a roof over my head. In thailand, food is never a problem no matter how broke you are. And If accomodation is settled, there is nothing much to worry about anymore. The rest of the trip, there wasnt much plan. AHha.. He just told us that they celebrate the festival on 16th and 17th usually, so before that, we will just travel and explore. I will go pack my bag soon and leave everything else behind. Wait for me to come back with pics yeah? Not sure if i should get more Zip loc bags for my camera and valuable stuff... And also.. AHAH... maybe a M-16 water gun.
